Tips to Make Your Home Energy Efficient

Everybody likes to save money, but in these economic times, it's extra imortant to do everything we can. One great way to save money is to make your home more energy efficient. Making your home more energy efficient will reduce your heating and cooling costs considerably.

One key to maintaining a comfortable living temperature is insulation. By installing the proper insulation you will see lower power bills. There are places in your home that should be insulated that you may not have thought of such as floors, ceilings, basement walls, overhangs, and the walls inside. Wherever air is leaking into your home it is making your power bill increase. Make certain that all of the cracks and the crevices are sealed.

You can help make your home energy efficient by replacing your lighting fixtures with energy efficient models. You should make use of your dimmer switches also because this saves energy and money. Another great way to save on your power bill and make you home energy efficient is to open up your curtians and blinds and let some natural light pour in.

A large portion of most home power bills come from appliances. The best way to save energy here is to shop for new appliances that have the energy star. The cost of these products may be higher then normal but they are worth the extra money in the long run.

Want a great way to be energy efficient? Try solar panels. Energy is created with these using natural resources. There are also solar panels that are available that can heat water -- they are called solar thermal collectors. What a great way to use the suns natural energy and to make your home energy efficient.
